Words From ED

EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS WORD

Dear Partners, I would also like to welcome all of you who have taken your time to know more about GLOCIR and the work we do for the communities we work for, of course, it is an honor and a privilege for us to share with you our collective efforts in the field. As Executive Director. I want to start by expressing my gratitude and encouragement to the GLOCIR Team in which we have been working since its creation in 2012. It has been truly humbling and I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart.

The collaboration and partnership between our team, beneficiaries and partners have been more important because the challenges we face together were managed together and the results obtained together. However, the gap between funding and humanitarian needs keep widening, swelled by new conflicts, emergency context, aftershocks, economic turmoil and the climate crisis, thus together we are facing a moment of truth, with untold consequences for the world, local communities, women and girls, vulnerable groups, disability and inclusion, health and livelihood/ food security just to name the few if we do not come together to confront the problems head on.  This is further illustrated in the latest global operational response plan, which lays out what is at stake if we fail to mobilize more resources. This can only happen with you our partners joining hands with us to make collective efforts in restoring dignities and giving hope where it was lost.

Dear Partner, Looking around the world today, it is easy to feel despair at the sheer scale of human suffering. But we must not give in to defeatism. The costs of inaction are far higher than the costs of responding to the global crises, especially reaching the local populations and indigenous communities which GLOCIR IS expert in working with. If we deny rations to millions of people who have nothing else to rely on, we are not just taking their dignities for the day, we are creating a fertile ground for instability, extremism and armed conflict to flourish.

Dear Partner, when communities break down, families are forced to make an impossible choice-stay where they are and starve, or migrate in desperate search of food and safety. we need to come together to implement an action plan to close the current funding gap, which reflects the priorities set out as identified according to the needs of beneficiaries. This can be done first, by expanding GLOCIRS’ response resources base, Second, sharpen our focus rigorously prioritizing programmes and initiatives and boosting efficiency and effectiveness. And, third, scale up partnerships to deliver solutions, tackling the root causes. We want to assure you that GLOCIR is determined to do this with you.

I look forward to working with all of you to achieve your shared ambition and to spending time With all of you over the next years. Thank you and have a pleasant day.
